Relativity of import
Sometimes you just don't know what really matters to you. Stike that — you probably almost never really know what's most important. It's just that, most of the time, you don't need to know; hopefully, the things you care about don't conflict, and you seldom have to choose between them.
When you do have to choose between them, though, it sucks. We can't all be like George W. Bush and cling for dear life to our trillion-dollar tax cuts — for the rest of us, we're the ones that have to live with what we decide to do or not do. And when you don't know what that will be like — what will actually happen based on the decision you make — the deciding itself can be paralyzing. I mean, how the hell can you decide between unknowns when those unknowns are things like possible careers and homes and friends and lovers?
Not easily, that's for sure. I guess you just gotta go with something and hope it feels right. Make it happen, whatever it is.
