Vintage Kool-Aid. No, really
Slate.com states the obvious (and I repeat it):
The experienced quitter knows that 1) almost every firm thinks that it's uniquely fantastic; and 2) there are brilliant people at the most obscure organizations, and total chumps at the most prestigious ones.
The first one is worth noting, given how all the past year's crappy reportage of the demise of the "dot-coms" so smugly harped on how those who were about to die had so over-inflated themselves. Because, of course, the only unique thing about all that self-puffery was that it had got oodles and oodles of, you guessed it, crappy reportage.
(I guess you can tell I've walked away from an Internet company or two, huh.)
