« It took a day  |  Vintage Kool-Aid. No, really »

Oh, the vanity! (part 2)

The New Yorker this week offers a Talk of the Town item on a certain "a-thousand-words-a-day contributor to his Internet me-zine" named Andrew Sullivan. But the item isn't about, no sir. It's about Sullivan's upcoming appearance as Benedick, in the Washington Shakespeare Company's production of Much Ado About Nothing, opening on April 23rd.

But is it, really? In the end, we learn, it is all about the website for our dear Mr. Sullivan, after all — and the website's all about him:

"I'd never read Much Ado before this," [Sullivan] said. "It's fantastic. Plus I get to wear leather pants. And when the reviews come out I'm going to write my reviews of the reviews the next day on my website."

Writing about other people writing about you — the personal website's killer app.
