Ken Layne has perspective

The journalist-turned-weblogger who has the best perspective on the phenomenon has got to be Ken Layne. And his take on recent media coverage of known journalists turning to weblogging makes sense. Journalists and webloggers both tend to adopt us-against-the-world attitudes, but they (we) are wrong to do so. Any medium is better served by having greater numbers of more original and more diverse contributers. It is upon us to push both web content and journalism in new directions, and see where they may go.

Thanks for the nice post. I do hope staff journalists start more blogs. It's fun and you get to say stuff you can't say in a newspaper.
